Winter Break Leftovers

On this day, the last day of winter break, it is time for a holiday wrap up! I did a lot over the two-ish weeks not going to school. Traveling and sleeping and seeing random movies in Hungarian was so fun, however I am looking forward to getting back to school. Not for the learning of cafeteria food obviously, because gross. I just like having a routine, and like it or not school does give structure to one's life.

First, we had a class party and then my host mom whisked me away to Budapest with the family to see the Christmas lights and market. We watched Home Alone (which is incidentally insanely popular here) and ate too much szalon cukor.

Budapest is beautiful; the architecture is iconic and the Danube ties the city together. My iPhone's photo quality is kind of meh, but that's what friends with really expensive cameras are for. Good thing we've all taken about the same touristy photos, so finding some to 'steal' shouldn't be that hard.

After that trip, we came home and did the whole Christmas thing. Then, it was back to Budapest for New Year's Eve! So many exchange students got together and braved the cold to see the fireworks over Parliament. And of course there's nothing like starting the new year dancing with friends and catching the first train of the morning back home.

My sleep schedule may never recover from the damage I've done to it this holiday break, but it was so worth it. After all, I only have around 5 months left to do...whatever exchange students do!

Happy New Years everybody! Puszi!
